I actually like the last half of Oracular, especially "Of Moons, Birds and Monsters." I didn't like the tunes at first, but they grew on me and now I dig those songs more than their singles.

I love Oracular Spectacular - if you don't respect what they are doing with the music - pay attention to the lyrics - interesting look on the perils of fame and the pain of nostalgia. A send up of pop modernity and a respect for their "roots" makes this album more than just some glorified electro-pop internet find. Rather, a dark comedy mixed up with a commentary of the single-mindedness and vapidity of our popular culture.

I used to be partial to MGMT, but Oracular Spectacular lost my affection after the first week of its release and I later discovered Passion Pit, who, though similar to MGMT, exceed them.

Is this one of those bands that grows on you? I listened to Time to Pretend and Kids and thought they are rather odd songs there was something intriguing about them.

I got 3 tracks in and turned it off. It was insanely boring, though I'm a post rock bore these days...
