OneRepublic

I'm sure everyone's heard their song "Apologize" by now... but I have to say, their album as a whole is excellent. Did anyone else pick it up? I highly recommend it. "Goodbye Apathy" is another great song.

apologize is good. but timbaland screwed it up. i mean the rhythm of the remix is good. but timbaland is not needed.

djchameleon 12-02-2007 06:27 AM

timbaland is what made the rhythm for the remix

I think he improved it somewhat.....I don't like the original too much.

The only thing I don't like that he did was take out the violin

Stop and Stare is a great song also but I didn't like the album as a whole....I guess there is only so much OneRepublic I can take it and after awhile it just all blends together and sounds the same to me

Most bands' songs sound the same now-a-days, especially with the decline in the skill of the record producers.

Not at all true. Your just listening to the wrong music.

I agree with RezZ , it's the kind of music you are hearing/listening to.

awaywego! 12-11-2007 07:17 PM

I'm hearing that. Well, mainstream anyhow. Like, not with the indie bands, but all the MuchMusic/MTV bands all sound the same and are unoriginal, but I guess that's what sells...But no, I definitely don't listen to bands that sound the same with all their songs, not anymore, although my brother could disagree.

Mainstream doesnt mean ****ty mtv bands. There is TONS of amazing mainstream music that sounds completely different. Sure the mtv music is mainstream but is only a fraction of it, and certainly not the good part of it.

I only have heard the song apologize, and i get a feeling of The Fray II, is this true can anyone tell me.

under 12-22-2007 01:48 PM

well the fray do sound similar to onerepublic. but i suppose they are both full of great vocal artists. but i agree.

djchameleon 12-24-2007 07:04 PM

I wouldn't say The Fray II exactly...more like The Fray 1/2

under 12-24-2007 07:16 PM

but the fray in general, the vocals are pretty similar

awaywego! 12-27-2007 08:21 PM

I agree. Both are okay bands, with pretty big hits on the mainstream charts, but they do sound alike. If you compared them you'd probably hear almost the same thing. They probably both went to the same producer or something.

under 12-28-2007 12:04 AM

i actually disagree, the singers do sound the same but putting them together would be easy to difer. and how does the sound reflect on the producer...?

but the Fray have there own sound and OneRepublic have there own sound, they just happen to sound alike.

awaywego! 01-02-2008 03:08 PM

Alot of producers do the same things with popular bands.

I can't believe no one on MB has posted or talked about their latest single, "Counting Stars."

It has like 200 million views on youtube but I only heard it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I'm reviewing their latest album, too, but curious if anyone else is totally in love with this track?

Goofle 02-28-2014 03:21 AM

It's been out for aaaaaaaages in the UK. 'If I Lose Myself' is the new one over here.

Love both tracks and a few others on the album. It's a solid release.

Yeah, I don't know if it ever got that big in the US? I'm actually really curious, because I was in the US for a few weeks in the summer and I heard nothing about it. I was listening to the radio every day in my rental vehicle, too.

"Counting Stars" just started popping up on some dance radio stations in Istanbul a few months ago. :)

I really like the album so far, I'm listening to it and reviewing it this afternoon.
