I love those Talk Talk records but I'm not aware of any...

Can you link to any articles that make this connection?

From Wikipedia:

According to Ben Myers of The Guardian, bands and artists that may have been influenced by Talk Talk include Portishead, Bark Psychosis, Catherine Wheel, Slowdive, Radiohead and DJ Shadow.
They do not explicitly mention trip-hop; it's possible I just made the connection via Portishead.

Also try early No-man, eg the album Flowermouth.

As someone else said, I don't think trip-hop borrows much from hip-hop, which confused me in the beginning because with that name you would expect it to.
Some trip-hop artists might be influenced by Talk Talk, but I can assure you they are in no way precursors to the genre.

Trip-hop is heavily influenced by hip-hop, since it relies on similar electronic/sampled, usually darker, more minimalistic and slower beats.
