I havent heard their new album nor have I listened to them in a long, long time and although they may not be groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination they are great pub/party music and a decent live band. Ive always liked their image too.
I couldnt help but laugh when I saw them play Download Festival a few years back. Per Almqvist was exceptionally entertaining in handling somewhat of a diffcult audience. Bands like The Hives are always going to get a lot of stick playing there and crowds at Donington have always had a tendency to greet those bands they dislike with a nice warm, glass of piss....... |

i agree that the latest from the hives isnt the greatest. but i do like it. especially songs like Try It Again.
They also put on one of the greatest live performances out there. So much prescense. I reccomend listening to Veni Vidi Vicious. Tyrannasarus (spelling) Hives is great aswell. |

I rather like The Black and White Album, even though it doesn't quite hold its energy all the way to the end. Their sound hasn't evolved much over the years, but those kickass riffs, especially on Veni Vidi Vicious (by far their best album) gets me everytime.
