Psychedelic music
Hi all!! We hardly ever find this WONDERFUL genre in music forums. let alone in mainstream sites and sometimes not even in the alt sections!!
So I thought of letting it roll here by introducing it. My fave psychedelic bands range from Count V thru The Doors and right on to Midnight Movies and Plan 9!! And you??! Rob |

I listen to a lot of psychedelic stuff.
I don't think you can class it really as a genre you can have anything from psychedelic pop to dance music , even some metal & punk bands have psychedelic tendencies. It's one of those things where you have to take each band as it comes.

Hey thanx for the cool replies. Of course, I agree that psychedelic music might even embrace ANY other genre really, but the "purists" out there would object and say that psychedelic music mostly imcludes artists that have a solid blues base evolving into something with lots of feedback (eg Hendrix) and/or including exotic instruments like sitars, dulcimers, etc. (eg '67 Stones). The psychheads of yesteryear could be found on the West Coast (eg Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead) and undrr the Mason Dixon line so to say like TX (Austin....13th Floor Elevators, etc.). Modern day psych bands seem to originate from L.A. (eg Midnight Movies) and NYC (Eric Stumpo's Plan 9). Anyway, to the peeps out there who tend to snob the electric psych sounds, "repent" and listen to more psychedelic stuff...your mind will end up thanking you, hehehehheheheh!!
