Yeah, I'm still rather confused about this whole thing. The songs listed in the last post have all been made by bands which have made it into the charts... what are they alternative to? Is this 'alternative' thing a particular sound or a particular attitude towards the music industry or something else?

Alternative has become any music that really has trouble fitting in a normal category. Is just thrown into alternative.

My Favorite would have to be Incubus - Make Yourself

Incubus isn't even remotely alternative, especially seeing as the album that contains that track had 3 hit singles.
