Default Favorite Alternative Song's.

Found out about you-Gin Blossoms, Heaven Let Your Light Shine Down-artist? Just to many favorite songs to name all at once. (To Bands) : Wallflowers, Smashing Pumpkins, LIVE, REM, etc. And so many more! I am no expert, so what I call Alternative music may be incorrect.

it's true that alternative is now more mainstream.

I don't think anyone's going to agree what should be considered alternative anymore

I agree BW. Not with the bands labeled as alternative from the 90s era. anyway, compared to the present mainstream music of today, etc.

You have it all wrong, Crow. Alternative isn't based on hits. An Alternative band can have a full albums of hits and still be considered Alternative. Just because an alternative band is popular doesn't make it pop. That's just like saying if Patrick Wolf becomes number one on billboard that makes him no longer indie.

Alternative = Post Nirvana stadium rock with a silly name.

Any chance of it actually being 'alternative' has long since disappeared.

Yeah...but only because he'd still be on his INDIE label...

You still missed the point of my post with your logic that you were using.

I guess it was a bad example but still......you are saying that if anyone in their current genre all of a sudden has a hit album that tops the billboard charts they no longer belong in that genre because they are pop now.....that doesn't make sense to me.

A band/artist making one album that is more commercially successful doesn't mean they won't go back to their roots in future albums.
