Radiohead In Rainbows Discussion

Quote:

And there you have it! Straight from the mouth of Jonny Greenwood and onto the pages of Paste.com and then ateaseweb.com comes word that Radiohead have indeed finished their latest opus, or the recording part of it anyhow. The follow-up to Hail to the Thief. The one that may very well feature children and will allegedly not come out this year.

For more on that, heeeere's Jonny: "We just had a meeting...today," Greenwood told Paste.com on September 7. "We're very relieved to have finished recording. Now we have to decide what we should do with it."

That decision revolves, in large part, around the fact that mighty Radiohead are presently label-less, having fulfilled their contract with EMI. And that's where you come in! Want to release the new Radiohead album on your own awesome underground oh-so-hip DIY imprint?? Just shoot the band an email at fatchance@hellsno.com.

Mr_headshot 09-08-2007 02:46 PM

wow... thank god. It's about time we had a new one =)

Frances 09-08-2007 05:52 PM

Woohoo! Another masterpiece no doubt.

Piss Me Off 09-13-2007 11:56 AM

The new songs that i've heard (Bangers n' Mash, 15 Step and another one live that i can't remember the name of) so far are quite promising...

MoonlitSunshine 09-13-2007 01:14 PM

yeah, I've heard them too, I liked them, at any rate!

jackhammer 09-13-2007 05:17 PM

Could Radiohead and Porcupine Tree embark on a tour together? I for one would lose my custard now! Radiohead deserve all the accolades they have recieved.

Son of JayJamJah 09-13-2007 09:31 PM

I think I am starting to dislike Radiohead because no one else does.

Seriously someone has to hate them right?

Even Scott Tenorman loves them!

Frances 09-13-2007 09:33 PM

Don't worry about that, they're great and you love them.

joyboyo53 09-17-2007 11:41 AM

the unfan usually hates good music such as RATM which everyone else loves; ask him what he thinks

sleepy jack 09-17-2007 05:30 PM

I don't love RATM either.

joyboyo53 09-18-2007 10:09 AM

yes but he despises them and claims that they suck... as if tom morello could suck at anything.

sleepy jack 09-18-2007 01:15 PM

uh...Audioslave?

joyboyo53 09-18-2007 01:30 PM

HE was good in audioslave.

Mouseketeer 09-26-2007 01:21 PM

Interesting...

sleepy jack 09-26-2007 01:25 PM

That sounds like something Radiohead would do. It's like when they posted the new track preview on their site awhile ago.

Son of JayJamJah 09-27-2007 11:43 AM

How does everyone hear rank these four Radiohead Albums

Pablo Honey
The Bends
Ok Computer
Kid A

Think that's their first four right?

For me it's Computer, Pablo, Bends, Kid A

Bane of your existence 09-27-2007 11:49 AM

Kid A last? That album ranks high with me because it just never gets old.

I got OK computer
Kid A
Pablo
Bends

And yeah that was their first 4.

Son of JayJamJah 09-27-2007 11:55 AM

I like them all...Kid A was when i started to lose interest though, so I think that's why it fails to the end of the list.

I'm not sure I'll buy their new album, I'll give it a listen and decide, but I am not really excited about it this time around.

joyboyo53 09-27-2007 12:46 PM

for me its kid a, ok computer, the bends, and pablo honey ... although i have to say all but pablo honey are neck and neck

sleepy jack 09-28-2007 12:05 AM

Pitchfork: Something Maybe Possibly Radiohead-Related Possibly Maybe Happening Saturday Morning, Maybe Possibly?

Goddamn this is getting epic.

Frances 09-28-2007 12:12 AM

Rankings:

Ok Computer
Amnesiac
The Bends
Kid A
Hail To The Thief
Pablo Honey
(I don't have Com Lag)

Now, I love all these albums.
They've all had times when I wanted nothing else on my stereo.
So don't hack on me for putting Pablo Honey last, I love it, but one of them had to come last.

sleepy jack 09-28-2007 12:18 AM

1. Kid A
2. OK Computer
3. Hail to the Thief
4. Amnesiac
5. The Bends
6. Pablo Honey

Son of JayJamJah 09-28-2007 12:39 AM

Pablo Honey is getting no love...

sleepy jack 09-28-2007 03:29 AM

Its got like two good songs on it.

Mouseketeer 09-28-2007 11:04 AM

Pablo Honey is supposed to be their poorest album, I've never listened myself though. I don't listen to Radiohead as much as I'd like to, I've never really rated them that highly, but that's probably why. It seems like an effort to try listen to them, I dunno why. I like the Bends a lot, there are some good 'erns on there.

I don't know what I think of OK Computer even though it got the best album ever a while ago.

Hmm?

No your wrong, it's not an option.

Also if it were, it's boring comparatively as far as I see it.

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-01-2007 11:02 AM

The biggest problem with Hail To The Thief was it's total lack of direction.

It was neither a return to their rock roots and it didn't really touch the heights of Kid A / Amnesiac.

If anything to me it sounds like a second rate OK Computer.

Mouseketeer 10-01-2007 12:11 PM

I like the way they're doing this. I'll download it for as least money as possible, but I feel kinda bad about it as I suppose they should have a decent contribution, oh well. I've put it in 'my basket' and it says it isn't there.

I don't like the name though, it seems a little... ***? But, I'm just generalizing I guess.

Sparky 10-03-2007 08:56 PM

i dont understand why its download-only until december...

i mean, this is coming from a band that refuses to put their stuff on itunes, yahoo music, etc.

Because buying from itunes and yahoo music is stupid.

Sparky 10-03-2007 09:02 PM

Well, me, and quite a large number of people find it useful :-/

Its just an odd stance to take..

Because the idea is you pay what you like for it , a bit like a donation at a museum.

I can't see I-Tunes doing that somehow.

MoonlitSunshine 10-04-2007 04:20 PM

Pre ordered. I can't wait!

mannequin Republic 10-07-2007 01:08 AM

Do people really think Heil to the thief is that good? I understood people reacting fondly to it at first because Radiohead is one of those bands you want to like, but there are at most three songs on that album I can really get into.

Clearly Ok Computer is a step above the rest, after that I'll take the bends, Kid A/Amnesiac are the same album (although both good, I suppose I like Kid A more) Pablo Honey is still good, but isn't on the same level as the rest of it, HttT is by far my least favorite.
