First of all list the bands you listen to, and try not to get too offended because if you don't know indie chances are you do listen mostly to mainstream music.

lol. I dont mean to be mean, it's just a funny remark. really there are lots of ways to look at it, and its definition is pretty debatable, as are all musical genres these days. Generally its a word that describes the sound of a band that is independant or on an independant label.

Personally, being from Ontario I'm exposed to alot of Toronto Indie stuff. Not so much just soft indie. Broken Social Scene and all the bands related to it, such as Stars, Metric, and Do Make Say Think are pretty damn good. Aswell as the Constantines, my favourite. Almost all of the music I listen to could be described as Indie so its hard to say.

I mainly listen to old school rap and classic rock.(ever heard of that?) I dont listen to any stupid sh** on the radio or watch MTV or any of that crap.
