The interviewer is a moron but Stephen is funny. I'm surprised he's so modest.

i listened to slanted and enchanted and didn't really like it. that surprised me because, with all the declarations that they were a huge influence for grandaddy, i figured i like them a lot more. but i'm still willing to give wowee zowee a shot if i ever find it.

Slanted & Enchanted was totally dull, normally I would've turned an album like that off halfway through but I really did want to like it. However I bought the 50 track edition of Wowee Zowee and it's pure excellence.

I've been listening to Wowee Zowee a lot lately, i'm slowly going through all the Pavement albums. Its my fave so far, just because there are so many highlights, whether its slow-burners like Grounded and Half A Canyon or the short rocky ones like Flux = Rad and Serpentine Pad.

Nobody is discussing Crooked Rain, possibly even better than S&E.
I never found S&E at all dull, I always tended to consider it in the context of its release - little sounded like it at the time imo and there are some really great ideas on some of those tracks |

I don't really like Crooked Rain anywhere near as much as Slanted & Enchanted or Wowee Zowee.
