The Knife? Royksopp?
I want to know a little bit more about the two bands. The Knife is apparently the biggest thing in Sweden, and "Heartbeats" is a really catchy number.
Royskopp, is Norwegian I think...?... I don't own any of their albums, but just from the songs I have heard, the earlier album Melody AM is a bit better than their newer material. |
i've downloaded the new album from royksopp because i really liked that bear song from the first album....but i have concluded it's not really my cup of tea....especially since they have started to include really lame vocals...
and if i'm not mistaken, jose gonzalez did a remake of heartbeats...exellent song... |
Royksopp have been around a while. Worth checking out all their stuff, but an aquired taste. A bit... hazy.
The Knife is already in the running for best electronica album of the year by many people. I'm not that big into them but you should certainly check them out! |
well i have discovered the knife just tonight, Heartbeats is even better when they do it, and the rest of the album is not too shaby either....i'm still downloading it, as well as the recent one....me likes lots...smooth, scandinavian, ice cold electro...mmmmm.....;)
|
yeah - i'm still surprising the **** out of people by playing them the original version of heartbeats...
|
so, "we share our mothers health" is one of the best electro songs i've ever heard....goddamn those beats are incredible!!!

That and "Like a pen" are my two favourite songs on the album....one of the best electro albums of the year methinks...
|
We Share Our Mothers Health is nothing short of amazing, but the best track has to be Silent Shout, the melody is just so class

WHAT WLSE IS THERE?
It was me on that road But you couldn't see me Too many lights on, but nowhere near here It was me on that road Still you couldn't see me And then flashlights and explosions Roads are getting nearer We cover distance but not together I am the storm and I am the wonder And the flashlights, nightmares And sudden explosions I don't know what more to ask for I was given just one wish It's about you and the sun A morning run The story of my maker What I have and what I ache for I've got a golden ear I cut and I spear And what else is there Roads are getting nearer We cover distance still not together If I am the storm if I am the wonder Will I have flashlights, nightmares And sudden explosions There's no room that I can go and You've got secrets too i don't know what more to ask for i was given just one wish ROYSKOPP ROCKS!!! |

i have TONS of remixes of these bands... working on my session 4 cd now and have 'silent shout' and 'What Else is there?' on it. In fact the opening song is 'silent shout' and been spending a lot of time on it, will likely end up being my own remix of the song :)

Basement Jaxx are little known?
|
Well, by little known, I meant not mainstream.
Oh, and Enon too. |
Quote:
|
Agreed, pretty mainstream dance.
|
^Oh really? I had never heard of them until a friend introduced me.
|
depends on where you live... they are mainstream in the UK and Europe, but not big in the US...
|
The Knife
lyrics, music, videos... all excellent in my opinion.
so deliciously strange but... somehow right on. anyone else enjoy? |

Because a good friend told me that is all they play in German night clubs, and now she has to teach me how to dance to electronica, so I won't look like a fool when we go out at night. But I wasn't aware this was a trend all over Europe. |
What else would they play? Indie-rock?
|
They could play rap, I guess.
|
We don't have black people here...>.>
|
All you need are white people obsessed with black culture. Wiggers, if you will.
|
We don't have those either...*sigh*
|
You want some? We have a surplus.

But I was raised on music like this- (I don't actually own any of this music, so i'm here are the music videos on youtube, it serves the same purpose.) My Humps hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj9swNR5-lY Get Low (Cliche song, but always played) hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSh_Oc78A4o Hollaback Girl hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkxmC8jkho8 Tootsie Roll hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jbxi9hxctk8 London Bridge hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAuZ-rhjBKU Very different from Electronica |
This is getting too off topic. You should download The Knife, they're pretty tight...although not exactly what they play in night clubs across Europe. Too bad.
|
I agree, too make up for my slight distraction, here's the link to Silent Shout.
Silent Shout hzzp://www.mediafire.com/?1mmnmonifzy and if anyone wants The Knife or Deep Cuts, just holla. |
The Knife are very cool. The vocals are a little weird and when I first heard them I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not.
A Lung is such a good song to listen to in the middle of the night. |
If they're Swedish I gotta check them out, I'm meant to be there this time tomorrow, but am not. :(
Heartbeats is a goodern. |
In case you don't know, The Knife will release Shaking the Habitual on April 8/9. They've revealed a new single, "Full of Fire", but it keeps getting pulled from YouTube and other places where an official video was posted. Are they screwing with us? I don't know. But I did have a chance to hear the 9+ minute song track once. I found it interesting but I think it will work better as part of the album. I was surprised that for a 9 minute track it didn't seem to really go anywhere. Not that I didn't enjoy the sounds. Really excited to hear the album.
Here is a rumored track list: A Tooth for an Eye — 6:04 Full of Fire — 9:17 A Cherry on Top — 8:43 Without You My Life Would Be Boring — 5:14 Wrap Your Arms Around Me — 4:36 Crake — 0:55 Old Dreams Waiting to Be Realized — 19:02 Raging Lung — 9:58 Networking — 6:42 Oryx — 0:37 Stay Out Here (feat. Shannon Funchess) — 10:42 Fracking Fluid Injection — 9:54 Ready to Lose — 4:36 |
That's an ambitious track list. A lot of the songs are a lot longer than we're used to from this band. Hope they don't get carried away.
|
Looking forward to it. Not heard much by them yet but that track listing looks ambitious enough for me to check it out.

So the sinlge was pretty damn great, too bad I only heard it once before the video got taken down. I believe the track listing is official. On one side I'm very happy with 98 minutes of The Knife, on the other hand I fear it might be a little too long. Double albums tend to bore me quickly. |
|
yeah post it again please :D thanks dudes

The new single has me impressed. I'm definitely wanting to hear more.
The only album I own by them is Deep Cuts, which is a very strong album. I also own Karin's solo project "Fever Ray", and absolutely LOVE it. Anyone else ever give that a listen? |
