Sometimes it is good to hear something without any pre concieved emotional views I.E the music should stand up on it's own two feet. This is not a criticism of artist or album (whom I love both ).

That is true i knew nothing of Ian Curtis or Joy Division when i bought Unknown PLeasures, i actually only bought because the album cover caught my eye. =x

True musically Closer is pretty boring (except Decades, Isolation, and The Eternal) but Heart & Soul, 24 Hrs., and Colony are really dry, Ian's lyrics really carry the songs on the album.
