I think more people should check out New Orders Movement album.
Everybody seems to hate it but it's got Ian Curtis all over it.

I've actually never listened to New Order except for hearing the song Blue Monday, which is good. I don't know why I've not checked them out.
Their song Ceremony is the best ever, according to various people I speak to. |

Ceremony was written 2 weeks before Ian Curtis died. It would have been on that album but they wanted to start fresh , so it ended up being their first single.

Probably Substance , A lot of New Orders best stuff was released on singles as opposed to albums & Substance is a collection of all that stuff from 1981 - 87.

I don't even think I would class JOY DIVISION as punk, but that's just nit picking. DAY OF THE LORDS is my favourite track of theirs, great atmosphere.
Any fans should check out the film 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE which is the story of FACTORY records who had some great bands on it's roster-JOY DIVISION, NEW ORDER etc. Also there is a film about IAN CURTIS'S life due out very soon with an unknown playing CURTIS-it's got very positive reviews. |

My personal favorite New Order album is Low-Life. Urban is right, Substance is as good a starting point as any. Movement is very underrated. Picking my favorite JD track is tough. Twenty-Four Hours is the song that really got me hooked. New Dawn Fades is also a great track. To hear more of their punk beginnings check out the Warsaw album, there is a very interesting version of Transmission on it.
