hmm, you really think so?

i say it mitigates the same sound as Beyond and the songs are certainly quite good, but it feels like the "extended jam" structure kind of wears thin on a few tracks.

still, awesome to see Mascis & Barlow back together and producing material of such high caliber at this stage in their life. ten years ago, who would have thought this would have been possible for these guys?

So true. 10 years ago I thought J Mascis had become obsolete.

They do! I just saw them at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston and they almost made the balcony collapse

But in a good way

generic? It sounds strange to hear it put that way to me. But I'm only really familiar with Where You Been, which I think sounds pretty different. Though I'm not really an expert on how the 90's Alternative Rock scene was back then, besides that there was Grunge, Radiohead, and something else.

the only thing you need to know from the 90's rock scene is Mudhoney, who were ****ing amazing and a lot better than Radiohead, Nirvana, or Dinosaur Jr. for that matter.

I guess I am just realizing how many people here have no clue how good that early 90s music was. You should definitely check some of it out.

There was way more the the early 90s than grunge or alt. rock and there's so much better stuff in the early 90s than Mudhoney.
