I don't want to start another thread about them so here goes:

The last few days I found a couple songs of theirs on my computer and really caught my intention and would be very interested to pick up a cd or two of theirs. Which cd should I pick up first? A really interesting band, Love Colin's vocals.

Grab the Crane Wife album. It's pretty solid end to end, I bet you'll enjoy it.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

Picaresque is their best, but 'Crane Wife' and 'Castaways and Cutouts' are maybe a bit more accessible.

I'm going to have to say The Hazards of Love is their best album.

The EP that they put out, "5 songs", is probably the album that I've listened to the most. Colin Meloy's writing and vernacular is ridiculous and i love it.

I'm a fan. I live in New Hampshire.

I like them so much because almost all of their songs are awesome, as opposed to most artists where you have to pick and choose. Also, their lyrics...

I'm a fan, and I live in Virginia. If anyone reads this in time and watches tv in the US, they're performing on Jay Leno tonight which is pretty big. Their best album is Picaresque, but their first EP "5 Songs" is probably their best work of all time. Crane Wife is great too. Their albums are good to listen to straight through, which is something I really appreciate in a band.

The Crane Wife 3 is still their best song in my opinion.
Although they've got some pretty solid stuff with Hazards, but I haven't given it a full listen yet.

hazards just takes some time to get used to.. idk, i usually like the easy sing-a-long songs.
