I think its a pretty good album

The Decemberists are amazing. Sorry for bringing this back, but I felt I needed to say something.

Listening to them right now actually.

i just got back from seeing them live. VERY enjoyable concert and if you get a chance to see them live do so!

Thoughts? I've heard a lot of people say that it's so "different" from their other stuff (I can't wait until someone accuses them of selling out!), but I don't really see that. If you heard The Tain EP you know what I'm talking about when I see that this seems to be a natural progression for them. I was actually surprised that Picaresque wasn't more like this one. In fact, I was listening to it this morning, and it really hit me that "The Island blah blah" reminds me a LOT of The Tain. Maybe it's because I haven't actually listened to it in a while, but the song structure and anything really reminds me of it. The rest of the album is pretty Decemberesque, except for "The Perfect Crime 2" which seems like a bit of a fluke. Kind of like when Belle & Sebastian wrote "Your Cover's Blown." In fact, that's pretty much all that song reminds me of, and that's probably why I like it so much. Anyway, I'm liking about half the songs on this album, and "meh" about the other half.
