I picked up The Crane Wife and Picaresque not too long ago. I really enjoyed The Crane Wife, but I haven't been able to bring myself back to Picaresque. Nothing really grabbed me.

I find their music difficult to connect with on a personal level, for whatever reason.

The entire album was streaming a few days ago. Not on itunes, mind you.

After Hours Music Reviews: The Decemberists - The King Is Dead (2011)

Huzzah, my review of it. After a few more listens my opinion of it lowered. It just feels so uninspired and cold.

Reading your reviews on another site I cant help but feeling like your sleeping around and cheating on us.

To be fair, I'm going to probably repost most of the reviews here anyway. So I'm not really cheating on you guys, it's more like were in an open relationship and I'm confiding my sexual escapades later to you. In addition to that, I have sex with you more frequently and have been with you for many more years. You're where my heart really is.

Just recently learned of 'The Decemberists' from another thread here and I picked up the 'Picaresque' album. I'm definitely liking it so far, w/ several songs that I completely adore.

After reading through some of the posts, I'm thinking I'll pick up 'The Crane Wife' or 'Castaways & Cutouts' next. I'm curious, though, if anyone has their newest album, 'The King Is Dead'? And if so, would you recommend it, or should I stick w/ some of the older stuff first?

Btw, I tried to look at 'sleep jack's review of the album, but it says blog not found.

Get Castaways and Cutouts, I've got it and I think it's a really good album.

hmmm why don't I have this album? I have some random singles from them but I don't think I have a full album of theirs.

I will definitely be checking it out.

Get Picaresque first, it's way better. This one's great too though.
