Default Nu Rave

A lot of indie music coming out at the moment seems to be influenced by this movement. I'm not sure if I like it or hate it as my opinions differ with each band and even songs.

Klaxons I like a bit but somehow I feel if they improved the vocals on some songs it would bring them to another level for example Atlantis to Interzone I prefer some of the remixes like Crystal Castles. CSS I can get along with from what I've heard they sound like a fun outfit.

But then there's bands like Enter Shikari and the Horrors which seem to be floating around nu rave which to me sound just god damn awful.

Then there's the whole fashion thing which is just an excuse to wear the most ridiculous clothing ever and paint faces with luminous chemicals (I've broken a glowstick at a gig and rubbed the contents into my face and yes it does sting).

There's quite a few of the big names I haven't really checked out yet but with almost all of them I have issues with the vocals. And anybody who thinks its better than 90's big beat must have something wrong with them, to me it feels like anybody can set up a nu rave band as long as they have a keyboard.

I would like some opinions and recommendations please.

The only bands i'm really familiar with are Klaxons & Shitdisco , both of which I like.

Enter Shikari are f*cking awful , they just sound like that post grunge crap that was doing the rounds about 6 or 7 years ago. There's no groove to their music at all it's all boring powerchords and cliched rousing choruses , if you're going to listen to that you may as well listen to Nickleback.

Didn't this basically fizzle out before it even managed to "revolutionize" British music or whatever every NME fad magically seems to do?

As far as I know, the term was crafted by the Klaxons themselves as a joke...

I think it's a joke too. The "scene" as it was is nothing like what proper rave was.

don't like most of it Klaxons do have there moments though. But i don't see how its got any thing to do with rave it just sounds like indie.
As for enter shakiri who i don't mind there not nu rave they are "trancecore" (there you have it folks another pointless sub genre for you to remember ) cos they mix hardcore punk with trance or something like that

'Trancecore' is just a watered down version of Casio-grind.

the worst thing about nu-rave is the horrible fashion thats come with it. are all kids colour blind now?
