I think it's possible to be objective about band names. Can you honestly tell me The New Pornographers is a good band name?
Speaking of which I like The New Pornographers. But knowing that now, everyone here probably hates them.

Nay on sarcasm.
In my opinion the best band names are usually punk and early alt rock bands. The most cheesy names are prog bands, the most uncreative names are metal bands, the most downright meaningless names are indie bands.
