first listen: not doing much for me. this sounds way more like atlas sound than any other deerhunter album. it's mostly minimalistic music/arrangements set to a slow beat with cox doing his thing over them. microcastle had slow sections too, but they were amongst up tempo stuff. favorite songs: revival and basement scene. hopefully it will grow.
and the vocals on helicopter make my stomach turn.

actually, the opinions of the album have been pretty divided it seems. some ppl are claiming it's deerhunter best album yet, some say it's their worst yet. i'd say it's to early to judge anything like that.
i'm definitely really really loving the album. so i'd say give it another try eric. favourite tracks are Desire Lines, Helicopter, Earthquake, Coronado, and He Would Have Laughed. Revival is still fantastic though. |
