I own Z
|
The best Indie band right now. They're an amazingly talented band, they have two really good guitarists and Z is one hell of an album.
Not many indie bands have the balls to pay tribute to southern rock, power pop, prog, funk and soul as well as the talent to expertly blend it all together to create something that can't really be shoehorned into any category. |
i'd say they're pretty good, i used to be in love with Z a few years ago, but their other albums were a bit hit-or-miss. bit of a shame really, i liked the direction they were heading until they released Evil Urges.
i hear they play sick live. and their music itself draws all sorts of fans, which is cool. |

I've purchased two albums and the "acoustic cituoca" disc and I've loved most everything they've done. It Still Moves is probably my least favorite album which is good since its an improvement. Even if they are the best, their up there with a good crowd, Modest Mouse, Yeah(s) x3, Stripes, Josh Ritter, Ryan Adams, Gogol Bordello, TV on the Radio... I'm sure I left some glaring ones out, but the nice thing about the current front runners is that their not terribly similar and I believe are giving other artists a reason to improve. |

That being said, What a wonderful man is my favorite song from there catalouge. |
@lucifer: Are you sure you're not thinking of Bryan Adams? Because Ryan has at least two masterpieces...although, granted, he's not indie...:\
|
nope. i've never even heard Bryan Adams. my father has a few albums and they're all terrible.
edit: also, don't you think you're throwing around the term "masterpiece" a little liberally? i'd say most bands don't have a singular work which could be described as such, let alone multiple masterpieces (of which i can think of a handful of bands that have actually done so). |
I'd agree that most bands don't, but Ryan Adams isn't most bands so yes, I think Heartbreaker and Cold Roses really are masterpieces. So iz Z.
