I don't even know if it's finished yet, this is the first official news that's been announced. I kind of had a feeling he'd do something like this since there were those M. Ward rumors and he'd been playing shows by himself.

I think I may just edit this to be the Conor Oberst thread and we could discuss Commander Venus, Desaparecidos, Bright Eyes, Park Ave. etc... in here because I don't feel like making a separate thread when his solo album comes out.

Conor Oberst is playing Reading Festival and will be previewing new songs for his debut solo album (i.e not under the Bright Eyes name)
gonna be great

My guess is you are talking about Four Winds and Hot Knives (if not one then the other), and both combined don't compare to the 10 minute consistent awesomeness of Lets Not **** Ourselves.. I just feel like Cassadaga was for the critics, not the fans. And Thankyou. |

I felt Cassadaga was killed by the production. Adding the strings was cool but when you combine it to sound so sleek, perfect and "big" it came across as very cheesy, forced and pompous. Add in that with him being at his worst lyrically (bar a Collection of Songs) and having some just flat out awful songs on there you get a totally average album.
