The Replacements are one of my favourite bands.
I love Let It Be the best, awesome from start to finish. Gary's Got a Boner, while certainly not as good as the other songs, is a bit of silly fun and lightens up Androgynous, Unsatisfied and Sixteen Blue. Sorry Ma Forgot to Take Out the Trash takes second place, followed by Pleased to Meet Me then Tim. |

I would have posted this in the Latest Film You've Seen thread but it won't be interesting to anybody who is not a fan of The Replacements. I watched Color Me Obsessed:
It's a great example of how a music documentary can be made well without any footage of the band, but only with people talking about the band (including the guy who their album Tim was named after). It would be especially interesting to any fan living in/from the Minneapolis area, I imagine. I never heard of the band until Don't Tell A Soul came out, which I liked even though most of it bored me. It was sold along with all my old cassettes. Looking through my whole collection I'm upset to find that I also sold or lost all my earlier Replacements CDs, which I really liked. I'm gonna go on a downloading rampage.

I'd be curious if they discuss their infamous Portland stop on the Pleased To Meet Me tour

At the end of the day I would probably pick Answering machine as my favorite song. Love everything they have done. Don't tell a soul has some unfortunate production that dates it a bit but it has some great stuff. They were never meant to be that polished. Saw them in Denver last year at riot fest and it was mind blowing. At the end they changed instruments with paul on drums and Tommy on guitar and were playing whatever covers came to mind. Heck with it, here is the video. I like Paul trying to do a Daltrey mic spin and it immediately fell off. The entire show was not like this. In my top 10 favorite shows of all time and everything you want from a Replacements show.

I love this interview with them, especially how drunk Bob is. RIP Bob.
Here Comes a Regular is my favourite Replacements song without a doubt. I played it to one of my friends one time after a night of drinking and he insisted on playing it on repeat for about half an hour saying it was the greatest thing he'd ever heard. I didn't get bored of it either because it's such an amazing song to listen to in the early hours of the morning. It's an amazing song to listen to at any time really.

I played that song before a night of drinking with a buddy and quickly realized it's not exactly an appropriate soundtrack for getting happily drunk.
