Sorry... I'm comparing indie in general to what I normally tend to listen to. I should have said "comparatively" soft.

Snow Patrol are certainly not an Indie band.

Snow Patrol were on Jeepster Records , one of the ultra cool UK indie labels in the late 90s collaberating with the likes of Belle & Sebastian , Arab Strap , Mogwai & Astrid.

If there's one band that does have indie credentials it's Snow Patrol.

Just a shame they turned their back on them.

I never heard of Snow Patrol until the summer of 2005. If their music was good enough, i'm sure I would have heard their name before this, but I have not heard their early music.

How do you mean?

They were just as successful as you could expect to be from a cult indie label at the time and with the exception of Belle & Sebsatian were just as much as the other bands on the label. They wern't just on the same label as those bands they wrote & recorded with them , in fact it was more of a collective of musicians who all featured & wrote on each others albums. I don't see how you can discount one band from that just because of what happened later.

Even in collective indie terms, Snow Patrols name never made it onto my own personal radar. How come they turned out so ordinary then?

I would be interested to hear their early stuff .

This is really difficult for me to get my head around because i've not heard this song in about 8 years , and having just heard it I still quite like it. Knowing what happened to them later makes me want to stab my eyes out.

So anyway I give you *gulp* Snow Patrol when they were quite good.....

I did enjoy the first release from this band 'Cowards and Robbers' or something of that sort. However after seeing them at ACL, I can say they are not worth a damn for live shows. The drummer played on a kit that has about 3 pieces, and the show was pis poor and boring.
