Owen
I'm really enjoying this type of music these days. Owen has a way with arpeggios that are reminiscent of American Football. Seeing as though we don't have a thread of his solo project band, I'm just gonna bring it up here. I was always a fan of his No Good for No One Now CD for some reason. I Do Perceive was a great album showing his prowess at guitar work.
His new album, "At Home With" is amazing. He got some of his music done with Nate Kinsella, I believe, which gives it a fuller rythmic feel to it. He still managed to capture his "owenness" even with this new album. Some good songs from the album are Bad News, A Bird in Hand, and The Sad Waltzes Of Pietro Crespi. Though, basically every song is relaxing and beautiful. |
Relaxing music is so under-rated lately.

*bump*
Owen, is amazing. I really don't have a favorite song or album. Everything is just <33333 |
I saw him open for joan of arc. :) They played an american football song.
|
American Football is the best project out of all them but I do love Owen.
|
I don't, he annoys me.
|
In note to self, theres a misfits reference. "But I do know that you aint no goddamn son of a bitch", then listen to Where Eagles Dare.
Awesome. |
One of These Days is my favourite song. Owen is amazing.
|
Owen is good.
No Good For No One Now is my favourite album. |
I've listened to most of the bands in that collective of musicians. Unfortunately, Owen is not one of them that I've listened to.
|
If you like Elliott Smith you'll like Owen they're not that similar, but both pretty relax acoustic music. Owen is kind of like umm, Alameda I suppose, theres probably a better song I could compare it to but its similar to that.
|
Awesome. Once I get more space on my computer I'll have to download some.
Oh yeah, I just remembered. While we're talking about Owen and other such related bands, what do people think of Owls and Ghosts & Vodka? |
Ghosts & Vodka pales in comparison to some post-emo instrumental projects. It's still really good stuff though. Victor Villareal has mad skills.
Owen is amazing. |
I finally downloaded Owls albums i'm going to listen to it later, and yeah the best thing about Ghosts & Vodka is Villareal hes insane, but its still all good.
http://www.musicbanter.com/hardcore-...scography.html I'm getting Cap'n Jazz up, i'll try and get Owls and Ghosts and Vodka up also. |
|
I still listen to Owen so much. At Home With and No Good for Noone Now have each been gettin 2-3 spins a day the last couple months or so.
|
Owen's "New Leaves" is my #1 album of the year. I definitely think it's some of his best work and love the direction his music is going in. i actually went to his premiere show with the full band and it blew me away, it was awesome to hear the new material live and he seemed in really good spirits. I'm just still crossing my fingers that one of his songs won't all the sudden be featured on a Twilight soundtrack or on The Hills...

Although I only have Owen's debut. Gotta get more, I'm sure it's all good. |
Apparently he is now in the studio with his brother Tim, I wonder what will come of it. Stoked to hear some of the sessions, you can't go wrong with two Kinsella bros in one room.
|
Im giving this another bump because people who used to listen to Owen...should start doing it again. And those who havent listened to Owen should listen to Owen.
Owen is my favourite of the many Kinsella projects. |
I actually prefer them to American Football by a bit, and that's saying alot.
|
Nothing can beat AmFo in terms of Kinsella projects in my eyes, but Mike still released some awesome material under this guise. Namely the self-titled. It's a really comforting album.
|
At Home With and No Good for Noone never get old to me.
|
What about The One Up Downstairs, which came before American Football?
|
The new singles are spot on.
