bland, but thats what I say about a fair amount of music, so you have every right to ignore me.

I just discovered this band today. I like best when they do kinetic 90s-style alt-pop that draws its energy from its fuzzy atomospherics. like "Window Bird" and "Ageless Beauty". Then they have this penchant for overwrought chamber pop of a kind which I think we'll all a little tired of by now (after every indie fan has now inevitably gone into Sufjan Stevens overload, I think many of us have developed a real appreciation for bands that can make intriguing music with the 3 or 4 basic rock instruments.). Plus they insert a lot of electronica flourishes more out of obligation to be hip, progressive and experimental than anything else (IMO). However at the core, they've a bunch of well-crafted, melodic songs delivered in Amy Millan's honey-sweet voice which is so pleasant because of its cleanliness and freedom from unneeded nuance.
