Patrick Wolf

Patrick Wolf is basically my favorite right now. I think Wind In the Wires is my favorite. I can't really describe his sound so just listen. I have Lycanthropy and Wind in the Wires if anyone wants me to send it to them. My favorite song is A Boy Like Me. It's kind of folky and electronic stuff.

I have just been to lazy to check it out.
I am now though :)

swim 09-15-2006 08:58 PM

I really like this. I'll have to find more stuff. Creativity>>>technical skill any damn day but yea, it's really pretty.

Seriously one of the best albums.ever.

Oh WOW! You just made my night. One of my most-anticipated of 07

*EDIT* First listen through, its really strong. "The Magic Position" is SUCH a great song - far and away my favourite on the album so far. This gave me chills.

*EDIT* Alright, so I've listened 4 complete times, and I'm listening here at work. "The Magic Position" is an amazing amazing song. This is great. Great.

*EDIT* I'm completely enamored. Wind in the Wires was a great record, but this is even better. Seriously, he is just so brilliantly playful and sensual at the same time. He did such an amazing job with the strings, piano and xylophone on this record.

sleepy jack 01-04-2007 02:17 PM

I agree, this album pwnz. I only got to listen to it once last night and couldn't wait to put it on again in the morning.

Expletive Deleted 01-04-2007 06:47 PM

That album cover is ridiculous, haha.

I got this leak a few days ago, but haven't listened to anything except the first song. I'll listen now.

EDIT: The first and last few songs are great, but the middle of this album was pretty boring.

sleepy jack 01-04-2007 07:19 PM

Who wants me to up all his other stuff?

_Spinning_ 01-04-2007 07:21 PM

-sexes-

Please.

swim 01-04-2007 07:34 PM

That's a sexy cover. Yea up it.

sleepy jack 01-04-2007 07:38 PM

The cover gives me an erection for the record.

And i'll do it now

Mouseketeer 01-05-2007 01:00 PM

I like 'The Libertine' and have just downloaded Wind In The Wires, sounds pretty cool.

adidasss 01-13-2007 07:19 PM

I quite like this, it's a grower...thanks for the upload, I hope you don't mind, I shared it with my musically retarded, Madonna loving queer Croatians.

adidasss 01-22-2007 02:54 PM

You know what, I like Wind in the Wires even better than The Magic Position.

sleepy jack 01-22-2007 03:39 PM

I can't really decide between them, I mean earlier when I was listening to Wind In The Wires I was like "I so like this better" then when I put on The Magic Position i was like "I so like this better". But Wind In The Wires has Teignmouth<3. Lycanthropy needs more love also.

adidasss 01-22-2007 04:10 PM

Teignmouth isn't even that good, whachyatalkabout fool??

sleepy jack 01-22-2007 07:46 PM

Its so good, you just suck. The live piano version is much better though, its soo pretty.

Sneer 01-24-2007 01:29 PM

i came to my "zzzzzzzzzz" conclusion because i really dont like wind in the wires. i know most people apparently love it but i just felt nothing when listening to it. He just starts to annoy me. He's part of the whole 'thamesbeat' scene in london along with the mystery jets, larrikin love, jamie T, good shoes, the (****ty) holloways etc. obviously a very diverse scene.

adidasss 01-24-2007 02:00 PM

Wow, you can say anything but call him boring. The man is one of the most eclectic artists I've come across. And who in their right mind can dislike The Libertine and Tristan?!
Are Larkkin Love any good? I had a chance to see them along with The Young Knives on new years (but decided I was too tired to wait 4 hours).

Sneer 01-24-2007 02:11 PM

not so much boring, his music just doesnt engage me, i can see why he is popular but i dont know, maybe this is a pubescent phase eh adidasss? i do like larrikin love yes, i like their bluegrass/indie/reggae blend and edward larrikin is a good lyricist, but their album was a disappointment for me. mystery jets album was alot better.

adidasss 01-24-2007 02:14 PM

Is there any connection between the two bands? Aside from being a part of some London scene?

Sneer 01-24-2007 02:28 PM

yea they've collaberated and such, and there are similarities in their music. its all very dandy.

adidasss 01-24-2007 03:18 PM

Then I suspect I shall like them too.:)

sleepy jack 01-24-2007 08:20 PM

Stu can you up one of Larkkin Love's songs, or Marijan if you download some can you? I don't wanna waste my oink ratio and I can't find any.

demo version, could not find album track.

Again, demo version.

Jamie T also is a pretty good musician on the scene

http://www.myspace.com/jamietwimbledon
whole debut album in on his space.

sleepy jack 01-25-2007 04:37 PM

I don't see the similarities...but thanks Larkkin Love is pretty decent. I checked out the rest of the artists, they don't sound similar at all. Jamie T is very far from Patrick dude.

DidierD 01-26-2007 12:39 PM

Stu, you got any downloadable Jamie T.

My housemates course mate knows him :) .... just thought i'd grab a bit of claim to fame

John_D 01-28-2007 06:07 PM

What is the score with Mr Wolf then? I see he is trying to do the Bowie circa-Low thing with his hair...

D.

But the colors! and the outfits!

adidasss 03-03-2007 02:44 PM

Terrible. Just terrible.

OOO I love him! Paris, Wind in the Wires, and The Childcatcher are probably my favourites. The Magic Position puts me in such a good mood, jesus.

Sparky 03-21-2007 05:29 PM

i just got the magic position today :)

mixed opinions so far, but im still enjoying it.

Imonlydancing 03-22-2007 01:38 PM

Lycanthropy -
Pigeon Song
London
Paris
To The Lighthouse
Bloodbeat
A Boy Like Me

Wind In The Wires-
The Libertine
Tristan
Wind In The Wires

Magic Position -
Augustine
Accident and Emergency
The Magic Position

those are my favorite songs off each album, i have to admit i like lycanthropy best out of the 3, but they're all very good.

I've seen him twice and I'm seeing him again in April in London.
First time we went, he was so interactive and my friend got to sing with him on stage (she's a huuuuge fan of his, the biggest fan i know, probably one of his biggest fans anyway) and the last time i went to see him, we gave him a rose and he told us it was the most glamarous thing he'd ever got on tour (haha).
He's an awesome performer though, and i think that really makes the music. When you watch him, you feel involved and you ENJOY yourself so much more than if he was static and arrogant (i.e no crowd interaction)
He's also one of the most talented musicians i have ever seen/liked.
Whilst on stage he switches between instruments almost every song, delivering really wide and diverse performances, which i think is great and can give people something to admire.
His outfits make the performance aswell, whether he's wearing dinsour trousers or has a tonne of gold glitter in his pointy shoes.
I think he's a bit of a novelty, but he's also very talented.
I'm glad that he's got some recognition now, i think you either love him or hate him.
