Good Bad Not Evil is definitely the weakest album they have, but i still think it's a pretty ****in cool album. i love the western feel, but i miss the lo-fi recording. they make great set lists live though that consist mostly of stuff from let it bloom and we did not know the forest spirit made the flowers grow, which are definitly the best albums. i think the black lips ****in RULE.

fantastic live, don't listen to them otherwise anymore, though....except "Gentle Violence" is an excellent song.

I have Let It Bloom on the radar. Off GBNE, I think "How Do You Tell A Child" was its best moment. Very funny. The Western feel too is, I conceded, a winner. It's rarely done with any sense of what it's supposed to be, but TBL seem to have that part nailed.

Default Black Lips Video Interview

Did anyone else go to the Black Lips show in SF? I couldn't get my camera in but found this pretty sweeet interview from the show. Enjoy it if you didn't make it to the show (I feel bad for you!)

I just got into them. I think they are in that 500 days of summer movie. I love the song Bad Kids (in the movie) and Boomerang and Hippie, Hippie, Hoorah

Default The Black Lips

Saw these guys in concert last November and they put on a really great show. Some of their songs remind me a lot of joy division and social distortion. Check them out:

The Black Keys and Flaming Lips should get together and sue them. But yeah, I was gonna listen to these guys. Wasn't sure which album to check out, I think I was torn between 'Black Lips!' and 'Let It Bloom' but in the end I didn't listen to either. I thought they were more garage rock than Joy Division?

Generally yeah. A few of their songs do have a very "joy division-ish quality to them. More so the melodies they use than the actual quality to the music. That could be just me though.

Hmm, any hint of Joy Divison and I should like it. Do they have a stand out album?
