Judging from the interviews I've seen, Elliott Smith comes off as being a bit awkward but very down to earth and unfettered by pretension. I think he simply preferred to avoid the spotlight and I guess Saturday Night Live wasn't really his scene

I can't tell if he's really, really shy or really, really shy and stoned off his mind. Either way, its absolutely adorable.

Oh my god, he looks so miserable. And when Carson Daly asks him about his tatty, you can tell he doesn't really GAF.

I could happily live off Roman Candle, s/t, Either/or and New Moon for the rest of my days. Yet conversely I really dislike Figure 8, I appreciate an artist delving into new styles but for me that album is poor. XO and FABOTH are both great too though. Has anyone got his B Sides & Other Songs compilation? Some really good stuff on there methinks, especially songs like Stickman and The Enemy is You

i agree with everything you wrote, but i wouldn't say that figure 8 is poor but i really don't like it as much as the other albums.

i have the unreleased stuff and i'm always amazed that even the things he didn't release are as great as they are.

Elliott Smith is on the cover of this week's issue of NME!

Listen to 'An Introduction To... Elliott Smith' on NME.COM – audio | News | NME.COM

I think, for the first time ever, I'm going to have to buy NME (:

No I think it's not on DVD yet and it has't been shown in many theatres.

I love Elliott Smith, more than any other musician.

I never really got Elliot Smith.
I am really fond of his Waltz #2. It's such a beautiful song.
But the rest never really caught on here...
