Well shit balls and bananas, Surell was wrong. I meant Self Titled when I said Debut. I LOVE the self titled, as I meant to say. It's pretty damned amazing. So I'm presuming Roman Candle and Either/Or are the places to look?

I think it has some of his most memorable songs on there. Such as: Angeles, Say Yes, Rose Parade, Ballad of Big Nothing, and Between the Bars.

As for FABOAH, it's up there with my favourite Smith albums. I'd probably put it third in my ranking, although i cant really decide between it and X/O. I was really impressed with how those involved constructed it - it all flows beautifully and leaves this very haunting haze. The b-sides/rarities collection is hit and miss, there's some really good stuff there, but some tripe too, just the record label trying to squeeze every last drop out of him i suppose. |
