Explosions In the Sky is AMAZING ; )
I saw Explosions... live couple years back in a small festival in Stockholm, Sweden(into where I did a small journey ). They totally played my socks off. I had just bought Earth... before cause I knew I was going to see them and also because I allready listened to Mogwai , Godspeed...and other bands which were somewhat associated.
Really liked their music. I had time for few spins before I was allready in the gig. But I was not prepared. Live one can see them what they were all about. I've never seen instrumental band be so into what they were doing. I don't know if they are always as intensive as they were ( hopefully ) . You could see that they were experiencing the music with every molecule of their body. They were all moving constantly with the feeling, the guitarist was hovering like a tree in wind , in strange almost shamanistic circle movements, the drummer was giving every beat like waves hitting the shore, you know they would arrive in their right moments. And as they were physically somewhat distant to each other you could feel that they were close. I could have never imagined that watching instrumental band could be so captivating. The feeling was there and the audience joined. It was truly beautiful. And if someone who's into them don't know Travels ,,, I advice to check it out, quit interesting. It's not an actual album, more of an experiment I guess. They were improvising one song each day, that was the concept. It's much calmer if compared to Earth... fexp. but it's pure stuff . I think Honesty is one of the key words with this bands. I imagine if they didn't feel their music would shine anymore they would throw their instruments away and head home,,, So go see them Live while they are still out there , , , ; ) |
