Yo La Tengo
I love everything they've put out but I think Ride the Tiger is my favorite. They kick ass and my lack of writing skills doesn't do them justice.
|
certainly one of the most underappreciated indie bands ever imo. Been going for over 20 years and still very little people know who they are.. Have most their albums and seen them twice live, both very good shows!
|
bought the box set when it came out, almost a year ago.
|
I have a couple of their albums.
I dunno about them though , I have this feeling with them that the ingredients are all there but theres something missing somewhere. |
they do have a lot of 'samey' stuff, and some even boring... but they can be absolutly brilliant sometimes too :)
here's a pretty good example of their glory - Sugarcube - http://www.funtimeok.com/wp/go.php?h...-Sugarcube.mp3 here's another of my fav's live - Autumn Sweater - http://www.ezarchive.com/rbally/Albu...mn_Sweater.mp3 (the whole black session you can hear at http://www.rbally.net/2006/06/yo-la-...s-1997_08.html) |
I forgot to mention they also did the best cover of The Simpsons theme tune.
Even better than Sonic Youth`s effort |
I am not afraid of you and I will beat your ass is so good, one of the better releases this year. The album art is sexy too.
|
aye, tis pretty good. Very random and lots of influences and styles.
Seeing them tomorrow actually! Wee!! |
|
I saw them at a festival I was at in August, but I'd only heard a couple of their songs at the time.
Anyway, I downloaded Painful recently and it's a great album, full of nice lush songs. I'll need to get some more albums. |
