Personally, I love the moldy peaches. If im ever in a bad/sad mood they always tend to cheer me up. Plus you can listen to them in pretty much any situation and theyre still rad.
I think they were decent and that first album was a good, eclectic mix of different stuff but there lyrics are f***ing awful.
I saw Adam Green open for The Strokes in 2002, he was excellent.
It's not real serious music
It's silly and somthing to sing I mean i dont know how many times i'm just humming one of thier songs |
I have a hard time listening to music like that... I guess I like epic lyrics like Bob Dylan or Zeppelin or something, oh well.
Thanks to Juno we have all of these people out there claiming to be huge Moldy Peaches/Sonic Youth fans...ughh.
I cannot stand them.
Heard 'em the first time when I saw Juno (fantastic movie, btw) and they are so... special. In a good way, though. They are really great.

sorry to resurrect a very old thread, but i'm seeing kimya dawson tonight in SF. i'm excited (:
i'm not a huge fan, but what i have heard of her, i liked. also, she's freaking adorable |
Eugh. They're alright as a sort of novel angle on folk for a couple of listens, after which they quickly begin to grate. It's annoying, because Dawson and Green are both actually quite talented.
They're just a fad band at the end of the day, and this fad seemingly re-spawns every year as new, younger listeners stumble upon and them identify the whole thing as this statement of kooky individualisation for a year or so. I'm quite sure this applied to me at one stage in my late teens. |
