To be fair, I don't even know how the two get compared so often, other than the fact that they both shot into fame around the same time. Oasis are pure and simple rock, a territory Blur has never really delved into (maybe they experimented with it on '13', but that was after 'The Battle of Britpop' anyway). Blur's closest contemporaries are Pulp, another massively underrated band from the 90's.
Oasis have pretty much overshadowed everything else that has come out from that decade, and it's unfair because nothing they did was ever that revolutionary. Blur and Pulp's influence on the music world is something that will never fade away, while we're seeing the fruit of Oasis' womb (The Enemy, The Courteeners) die a terrible death. |

Just because a band spawns a lot of bands not quite up to it, doesn't mean they were not making good music. If a band can be responsible for kids wanting to make music then kudos.
I wouldn't say Pulp were underrated, Different Class for me epitomises the whole Britpop era better than any other album, but I don't really think any of their other stuff is that great, and they are recognised as being one of the best bands of the 90's from Britain. Quote:
