Depends how you define Britpop.
At the start around 1992 or so the term was coined do describe people like PJ Harvey , The Auteurs & Suede as a new British movement of bands. It didn`t actually become a 'sound' until a couple of years later when you had the likes of Elastica , Sleeper , Menswear , Shed 7 ect ect ect all trying to rip off Wire albums |

They're both great , but Blur were better IMO. Most of Oasis' music get boring really fast, as their songs pretty much all sound alike.
Blur's band members weren't *******s in the tabloids either, and that help a lot if you're gonna like them. Last edited by The Monkey; 07-02-2008 at 12:57 PM. |

I have to go with Blur. Damon wrote better lyrics and theyre music was much more diverse where as Oasis's music all starts to blend after the first 2 albums.

I grew up with both and they were both fantastic 60's throwbacks; however Oasis appeared in an exciting time for music, ignored that totally and appealed to the British public as the reactionary, comfort-loving, settle-for-average drunks that they predominantly are.
oh and in case there's any doubt as to who comes out on top: |

Oh god I love Oasis to death so this is pretty biased.
