I ignored both bands at their heighth of popularity because I thought that they killed Britpop by stealing the sounds of (my favorite) bands like Ride and The Stone Roses and making it something worse.
But anyway, I eventually came around...I like early Oasis a lot better than almost all Blur. But I don't like Oasis after their mid-90s stuff and I really like what Albarn has done lately, especially his band/project, The Good, The Bad, and The Queen.

I pretty much agree with everything you said there, I think most other Britpop bands were actually better than them. I also agree that Albarn's more recent stuff is very good & Good The Bad & The Queen was excellent man.
Have you heard 'Think Tank'?

Boring generic shitty bands like Shed 7 , The Longpigs , Ocean Colour Scene & Cast killed Britpop.

It was already dead before Oasis released anything crap.

I s'pose. All I know is that I didn't much like Britpop after, say, '92-ish. I'm not sure any particular bands are responsible for this -- even my favorites disappointed me greatly after that time.

I agree that the music from these bands (compared to your Grincore/Post Punk or whatever) is boring but only in comparison. I also recognise that the music is bland compared to a lot of other types of music you may & I am certainly into. But I think Shed 7 are pretty underrated, especially the 'A Maximum High' album. I aint to big on The Longpigs but have their album 'The Sun Is Often Out'. Ocean Colour Scene (used to) be excellent & I think they have a very strong back catalogue. I wasnt too ken on the latest album 'On The Leyline' though & kind of lost interest after hearing it. I have yet to hear 'Hyperactive Workout For The Flying Squad' though (which was the album previous). Finally, Cast are one of my favourite Indie bands & I think really are one of the real gems of the Britpop scene & Im not referring to the 'All Change' album alone like most people do.

EDIT: Suede are often overlooked; as they were the ones who pioneered Britpop in the early 90s, when Blur were still busy imitating The Stone Roses & Oasis were still demoing.

Default Oasis

Ok, so i just listened to (what's the story) Morning Glory for the first time ever and i was just like WTF why had I not heard of this band earlier.
The whole album was great from beginning to end, so great that i dont think i'll even want to get any more of their albums because there is no way any of them can beat what i just listened to.
Oh, and i have to thank the itunes genius toolbar for throwing me the recommendation.

I prefer Blur, I wish people would listen to more of them than just "Song 2"

I'd have to agree with you that What's The Story Morning Glory is a pretty ace and darn solid album from start to finish... for me there a few lyrical missteps, but we all know the Gallagher brothers were not Shakespeare... those quibbles aside its darn good songwriting on display.... it's such a shame their new record got so overbloated and tarnished them along with, of course the public infighting and alleged other problems...

Their new record was really good I think. Better than Don't Believe The Truth, better than Heathen Chemistry, better than Standing On The Shoulder of Giants. Sometimes I would argue it's better than Be Here Now but i'm undecided if I would go that far back into their catalogue for this one.

Whats The Story, as with all Oasis albums is no lyrical masterpiece, that is true but it's full of tracks that, in many ways, became instant classics of that era. I accept Noel Gallagher for what he was/is really, he's no genius, he won't claim to be but he certainly had a knack for writing accessible, poppy, melodic "pub" rock songs and at times I need stuff like that.

The infighting really gets on my nerves too, i'm sick of hearing about it. It doesn't seem to happen as much now, they have grown up to an extent, especially Noel but I was always sick of reading about it. They are brothers, they fight, who cares? Their fights end up in the paper because of their celebrity and the media will spin it in such a way to show Oasis crumbling apart from the inside out but it could just be as easily explained as two brothers arguing.
