I love both. I've even got a track that they recorded together, I'm in love with it.

I never really particularly cared for either one of them. Oasis fans are just too neanderthal, cheering for oasis like its their favorite sports team. Plus the Gallagher brothers are far too full of themselves.

Blur is just plain boring, except the self titled album, i like that one...

so i guess if i had to pick, i'd pick blur (plus Song#2 is far less annoying than wonderwall)

Oasis was my favorite band in 8th grade, and now I'm in college and still love What's the Story Morning Glory? Just a real good album in my opinion.

I always preferred Blur over Oasis... at first it was the fact that Blur basically had the melodies, sound and subject matter that I was more interested in. Then when Oasis got big it became such a bloated parody of a good rock band, with over repeated lyrics and riffs, songs that ran on too long, overstreched concepts and just plain dumb meatheaded or totally nonsensical lyrics...

"Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball"

What the **** is that meant to mean anyways?

The whole Gallagher brothers fighting with each other thing was just frickin' stupid as well, and pointless... then everyone except the brothers got sacked and it all became a great big sham.

Look, Blur's career wasn't perfectly cohesive either... their self titled album, I thought, was a bit wanting for quality material - but they hit back with great stuff like 13 and Think Tank, both excellent, cerebral, experimental pop albums, with intelligence and clear signs of musical progression.

And the best thing about Blur? When it all stopped working for them, they packed it in and didn't **** up a good legacy.

Meanwhile Oasis trudge along recycling the same old sentiments and dried out tired riffs, and with each album delcare they've "regained the spirit of their earlier days". Bull****. They sound as tired as they did on their last release...

Yeah, i really don't like Oasis that much... :-S

Hmm, i do think you make some valid points and lets face it, you arent the only one with these opinions so I dont wish to appear intentionally arsey but theres a few things that dont sit well with me.

Arent Blur getting back together? I dont know if they have a new album in developement or if they are just getting back together for a few shows but I'd be careful about claiming Blur knew when to give up.

Both bands had good material and bad. You could argue the ratio of good to bad is a little more in Blurs favour but both have made poor material. Also, some of Oasis' lyrics may be poor but I think some of Blurs are poor also.

I thnk you make a valid point when you say Oasis continue on with poorer material but I thought their last record was at the very least their best one for about 10 years or so and they have already said on record that they continue to make music because they want to even though they will never write another Definitely Maybe. I dont think it bothers them that much so those that want new Oasis music will buy it and those who dont dont have to bother.

Also Guigsy and Bonehead left, they werent sacked. Tony McCarroll was sacked because he was ****.

My Oasis critique may have been a bit misinformed - and your reply was not in the least bit arsey, so its cool!

Andyou reminded me that I think Blur are reuniting in some form or another - not sure about any new material or anything or if it was just for a few performances or a tour? I'd need to find out more about that one!

I think my original post kinda obscured the point that I think Oasis kinda stuck to their guns, stayed fairly true to a particular style and experimented a little less, particularly in later albums...

I think my point about the Gallagher brothers and their in fighting might have also been invalidated by the fact that Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon were known to have a good public scratching match too...

It's interesting to see that this topic ctually stills garners some response though - I work with teenagers and I am betting if you mention both these bands to them they'd probably shrug their shoulders and say "who?"

Urbanmystic - I share your dislike of Gorillaz too.... loved everything Blur did, but Gorillaz just didn't turn me on...

Well, thats certainly true!

Blur are playing Hyde Park in London for sure but I'm not sure if they're doing anything else.

I used to like you:(

FaSho - I'm sorry! It's not that I think Gorillaz is necessarily BAD... it just didn't move me in a way that Blur did...

...Or was it one obnoxious "friend" i had at the time who loved them that completely threw me off them - perhaps I should re - evaluate!

The second Gorillaz was definitely better than the first one, to my ears, anyways...
