Mr. Cave has qwuite the knack for writing sad, dark ballad, that's for sure! There is particular track from his ...And No More Shall We Part... album, called Love Letter, I think and it breaks me in two every time I hear it.

I went through this thread.... and went through some of my sad Playlists.
I have a hard time understanding what is Indie and what isnt considering it has a couple meanings. Heres a few... The eels- Its a Mother****er RadioHead- Pyramid Song (didnt feel like I needed to post a link) Chad Vangaalen - Willow Tree Akron Family - Dont be Afraid Your Already Dead |
Anything by antony and the johnsons, at all, whatsoever. That shtuff is so depressing I can't ever listen to it. -____-
"Samson" by Regina Spektor is so beautiful and sad that my heart aches any and every time I hear it. |
These songs truly can play on emotions.
Múm - We Have A Map Of The Piano !!!- Infinifold |
Insulated- Mansions
This song is a complete downer and can only be enjoyed if the listener is miserable. No Children- The Mountain Goats Depressing, and darkly hilarious, perfect for a bad mood! |
Not from a band that you'd think of for a sad song, but Queen's "One Year of Love" is a good one.

Charlemagne, aren't the Mountain Goats cool like that? They have these heartbreakingly sad songs with these great littlwe bits of dark humour rolled into them... I love that!

All of Side Two of Lou Reed's Berlin - Caroline Says II/The Kids/the Bed/Sad Song
Big Louise - Scott Walker Decades - Joy Division I Can Never Go Home Anymore - The Shangi-Las Hurt - The Johnny Cash version Dark White - The Music Machine No Distance Left to Run - Blur (Esp. while playing 13 all the way to the end including Optigan 1) I'll think of more... |
