I bought Southern Rock Opera after it was released in 2001. Probably the only album I've ever bought based on the reviews. Great album!
I've never lived in a southern state, but I can relate to a lot of their lyrics.
Went to a couple of their shows in Austin, between 2003-2005. Bought Gangstabilly & Pizza Deliverance directly from the band at the second show. They told me I bought the last two original pressings of those albums they had left for sale.
I like the Pizza Deliverance album as much as Southern Rock Opera. Great stuff!
And if you like their live recordings, here is a link to 635 live shows (and counting.)

Drive-By Truckers : Free Music : Free Audio : Download & Streaming : Internet Archive

You can listen to the shows and/or download them. Band approved and all for free!
