He`s the total antithisis to 'caring' rock stars like Bono & Chris Martin. We love him because he is a miserable bastard. anyway you think he`s bad I suggest you look up Mark E Smith from The Fall.He makes Morrissey look as diplomatic as Kofi Annan |
hey imonlydancing.
thats my ****ing live cd! and yer he is arrogant in that. i love it and the smiths. the queen is dead is a quality album |
i personally love the smiths and have done for not a very long time, but after my girlfriend played them non-stop for two months i was sucked in and now love them
they defined indie and morissey gave hope to geeks from the 80's to be who they wanted to be. their legacy is huge and they have been inspiration for the libertines, oasis, bloc party and so on at first they can seem, in a word, *cheesy* but when you think of the context these thoughts soon vanish. they were lead by a new romantic geek who was depressed and had a lot of love to give but is celabate and never been in love they came from manchester where life is pretty dull to say the least and wrote the most beautiful songs from the 80's if they do not appeal to you, keep on listening or read morisseys lyrics and i assure you that you will love them within the month there is a light and it never goes out |

Living in Manchester gives a person plenty to draw from life, as is probably the case with Morrissey and for that matter a seemingly endless list of Mancunian lyricists. I agree with your points about The Smiths though. Their legacy will inspire bands for years to come. Edit: My idea of "dull" would be living in Surrey. ;) |
sorry mate i wasnt slagging it off or anything like that, to be fair there is probably a lot more going on up there than down here.
down here is full of people trying to act upper class and then people who are so scummy its laughable. what i mean was that in the 80's in salford and around alot of the people like morrissey felt like they needed to get out of manchester long live the smiths |
No offence taken mate.
And people here still feel the need to "get out". It's a love hate relationship...probably echoed around the countries big cities, not just here. Oasis got out and never came back. Other bands around that time felt the need to go to London, with the exception of bands from Factory Records etc. Why go to London, when London can come to us? I think that's how it should be. |
I've only recently got into em, have Meat is Murder and the Queen is dead, I love them
|
Anyone who seriously likes music has had a Smiths phase I think. Or maybe that should be anyone who seriously felt alone at one point.
"What she said, I smoke because I'm hoping for an early death." |
I'm going to hit up Wikipedia for some backgroundinformations thats too long to explain (like why does everyone blow Johnny Marr) but I just heard "Am I still Ill" of hatful of hollow and I thought wow, this is the second track I don't hate...and I actually like this one.
I don't know something about How Soon is now with its "semi-horn passin on the highway" opening puts me off. |

Respected by many musicians for his guitarwork and rightly so. Despite his fame, I think he's still underated. |
