Yeah, that's what i said, although it might be ridiculous, it's also ridiculously cool
The way he moves really makes me feel like what he's singing comes from inside, you know? And as you can "feel" in that song and see in Frankly Mr. Shankly and Bigmouth Strikes Again, there's a certain "bitter" humour to the smiths, not only depressive themes. Songs with relatively sad lyrics can also be very "tongue in cheek". And yeah, i think a lot of people identify with what the songs are about, mainly teenagers and tortured souls like myself xD Btw...The Boy With The Torn In His Side :O |

Yeah, i also think they have the "sweet misery" thing going on for them, which i totally identify with (and which probably isn't very good).
Btw, getting into an empty bed to the sound of I Know It's Over is damn sad...(and damn cool) Last edited by The Fascinating Turnip; 01-29-2010 at 03:47 PM. |

^ it happens...anytime a singer has a unique voice there will be people that just can't take it...like nails on a chalkboard kinda. billy corgan and geddy lee are the first couple that come to mind as well.
i personally love the smiths and love morrisey's voice.

i actually don't think it is strange...i think he's a great singer but it is definitely a unique voice...so i guess i can see how some people may not like it.

He has a rather peculiar voice, it's very distinct. When Morrissey sings you know it's him. But i've never disliked his voice, enjoyed it from the first listen.
Also, i'm really glad this thread got brough back, it was getting on my nerves Here's a video with a great Smiths song(audio only): Enjoy. |
