Bonnie Prince Billy & Tortoise "The Brave and The Bold"
Anyone heard this album? If you're a fan of either alt-folk artist Will Oldham (BPB) or post rock band Tortoise, then this is a really interesting album (good way or bad way), because it sounds nothing like either of the two, or even a combination of the two. Bonnie Prince Billy's done a lot of good collabo's, particular Superwolf with Matt Sweeney in '05. Not to mention...it's a cover album. For instance, Bruce Springsteen's "Thunder Road" and Lungfish's "Love is Love" hit hard. Minutemen's "It's Expected I'm Gone" is followed by Elton John's "Daniel". I'm not sure if the two mix well or at all. Rating: Weird/10.

Yeah it doesn't sound like them at all. That's why I enjoyed it so much.
It's possibly the second best covers album I have ever heard. It's completely unpredictable, and each song is pushed to it's limit and made their own, which is what a good cover should do, I have no respect for anyone who just mimicks the original. They keep the spirit of the songs alive but also twist the essence of the song to make it something very interesting indeed. Sometimes that's why I think it sometimes just didn't sound right - it's wrong, in a sometimes dark twisted intentional kinda way, like in the most obvious example 'Thunder Road.' Will's voice is emotive as always and Tortoise are a damn fine band for anyone to collaborate with. My rating: 9/10 (only because I don't believe you should get 10/10 for a covers album)

I couldn't rate this if I tried... weird/10 is right. 2 songs I like and put on rotation are Daniel and Love is Love. All of them are good, but there's no consistency in the album and each track I take one at a time...

i downloaded this a few days ago and only listened to it once or twice ( i forgot it was a covers album, maybe not the best way to get into bonnie prince billy )...i have to say that not a single song struck me as being anything above average...most of them are nothing special at all, some are quite bad. 2 or 3 are decent....maybe i need to listen to it more...but my first impressions ( of the entire album ) is in fact weird/10 ( and that's not a good thing ).

Adidasss you'd be better starting with Master and Everyone or I See A Darkness or something to get a proper feel for what Bonnie Prince Billy can do.
