Metric, Woo hoo!
I did look for a thread already made, there was a few refering to them and one no one had responded to. So I thought, why not make another, Considering how much they have exploded over the last little while.
They get more popluar by the second is seems. Just last week I went to an amazing sold out show in Victoria, Bc, Canada. Talk about good times, this show was fantastic. It was my first Metric concert and won't be my last I can tell you that. Emily Haines has such presence on stage. Only a few days before that I ended up buying Live It Out [great album]. I'm surprised it took me as long as it did to buy it. But, Metric is awesome. :] <3 |
their latest album didn't impress me....but the one before that one is awesome....maybe i should listen to the last one again....
|
I'm still in the midst of buying Old World Underground, seeing as i'm unemployed at the moment, lmao. I've heard all the songs on it anyway and they we're great. But yeah, this album was great to I think.
After seeing them live, you have a new found affection for them. I did anyways. Try, Patriarch on a Vespa from Live It Out. :thumb: |
Metric are very good, haven't heard the latest offering.
If this is the life why does it feel so good to die today, blue to gray, grow up and blow away! |
Good song:thumb:
|
Very good.
|
I think they're great. Very easy to listen to. I have three albums, Old World Underground, Static Anonimity and Grow Up & Blow Away and they're all good.
Favourite songs would be Down, Soft Rock Star, Succexy and List. Dave |
they have 3 albums??? did they release something recently or summink?
|
They released one last year if I'm not mistaken.
By the way. Succexy is a very good song. |
I think Grow Up & Blow Away was unreleased and Static Anonimty was an EP.
Dave |
Maybe my favorite indie band, for the moment atleast. Catchy, well-written and not the same as all the similar bands which is nice.
|
I liked them a hell of a lot more than I thought I would.
I think it was Old World Underground I heard. I was impressed anyway |
I like them a lot. I own 'Old World Underground, Where Are You Now' and that is a good album although I should listen to it some more.
I also like the tracks 'Rock Me Now' and 'Raw Sugar' but I don't know what album they are from. |
Sure everyone has checked out their homepage, but if you haven't they have about 7 videos there in the media section.
Can't post links, it's 3 w's ilovemetrics dot com. |
I'm listening to Grow Up and Blow Away now. I like it, I'll have to check out some more later.
|
bump.
As I have been accused of listening to too much Metal ;), I just thought I would post what has been in heavy rotation for three days now. Damn good tunes and that tempo change for the last minute is excellent. |
Absolutely adore Live It Out and i'm glad to find out Grow Up and Blow Away holds up just as well. How on earth they're not in the charts with songs like Soft Rock Star and Monster Hospital i will never know.
|
Because they are Canadian and Urban put the death knell on them ;)
|
I don't see why Bryan Adams and Celine Dion should have all the fun!

Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton>>> Metric
|
Great band with alot of memorable songs. Calculation Theme, Police and the Private, Hustle Rose and Empty are probably my favorites.
|
metric is phenomenal! ive seen them twice, a few days before live it out's release and at the end of july at wakestock in toronto. both shows were epic. all three of their albums a really good in their own special ways - but live it out would have to my most favourite.
ive heard some things about them releasing a new album sometime this fall - ive heard a couple songs from their live shows, they are extremely good. |
I really didn't know about Metric until last month when I saw them @ this small ****tail lounge-type venue in NY. They were really amazing. After the show, I purchased Old World Underground and Live It Out. I love that one song Empty.

Fantasies (their new album)
enjoy |
Links by PM only please!

On first listen it's a solid pop album and not much else. A few highlights (Satellite Mind, Stadium Love) but it's looking like it's nothing compared to Grow Up and Blow Away and Live It Out.
|
"Front Row" reminds me of the 90's. I love it.
I love Emily's voice on "Collect Call", especially during the "if somebody's got soul..." part. After afew listens, "Help, I'm Alive" as managed to remain my favorite. |
