The Raconteurs

jack white's new band, just listened to steady as she goes, pretty good song, sounds a bit brit popish doesn't it? who's the other dude in the band? he's supposed to be some rather famous musitian?

IndiElectronica 03-30-2006 02:01 AM

argh! Getting mad at people just crediting Jack White. The TRUE driving force behind this band in Brenden Benson. If you like the stuff here make sure to get BB's last two albums as they are really good! Seen him 3 times live and very good live too!

adidasss 03-30-2006 04:02 AM

so Benson is like a solo artist?

IndiElectronica 03-30-2006 05:00 AM

yeah - but has a band etc... VERY good stuff. NO JOKE. Go get his last 2 albums - you won't be disapointed!

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-30-2006 10:29 AM

Brendon Benson is very underrated in my opinion

ILIVEMUSIC 03-30-2006 11:45 AM

i will have a look out for him on the net see what he's all about.

Sneer 03-30-2006 12:29 PM

of course jack white is going to get the credit, he's the most iconic figure in rock music at the moment. its only natural if not totally deserved. and dont forget the greenhornes duo - pretty decent. and brit pop? sorry you've lost me there. overall ive heard 3 songs, like them all but theres nout particularly special about this project. should be a good album though.

adidasss 04-19-2006 09:27 AM

sorry for the typo, it's the raconteurs...

oh, and the album leaked, you can find it on the pirate bay....:)

shandapanda 04-19-2006 03:53 PM

i remember brendan...i liked his single from the album last year....i never looked him up though...
i heard somewhere that they had a name problem. something about another band and the name sabotuers..

IndiElectronica 04-20-2006 03:28 AM

so far as i've read it's just in Australia they will be under a different name

Sneer 04-20-2006 03:38 AM

saboteurs....raconteurs......i dont see personally?

MURDER JUNKIE 04-20-2006 04:05 AM

my new band is going to be called the Masterbateurs http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f3...p/badteeth.gif

adidasss 04-27-2006 04:14 AM

I've had a chance to listen to the album properly and I like it a lot, but the best song is still steady as she goes....

Crowe 04-27-2006 09:36 AM

You know, I listened to the 2 songs on the website when it first came out... and wow... I was majorly disappointed. I love the White Stripes, I love them... but I was not a fan of the Raconteurs. I have yet to listen to the whole album though.

ACellistofCores 04-27-2006 12:45 PM

ew they don't sound so great, im cool with the difference of the white stripes most recent album. It's not that i really like them i just like how much they changd it up a bit

adidasss 04-27-2006 12:47 PM

the album grows on you quite a bit, it just takes a bit of time to get used to the different sound...

ACellistofCores 04-27-2006 12:57 PM

yeah it does haha

Loving this album. 'Steady As She Goes' is the obvious in your face catchy tune of all on this album.
'Hands' is more Britpop, in my opinion, in an old school way.
'Intimate Secretary', 'Together' and 'Level' also impress me.
'Blue Veins' = reminds me of Pink Floyd cept' for the vocals.
'Call It A Day' touches a personal, emotional nerve. It's one of those songs that the lyrics carry alone.
Best album I've heard in a while. (I keep saying this).

Frances 05-06-2006 12:16 AM

Only had 1 listen, 1st opinion, not as good as the white stripes
Sorry, I haven't heard Benson's stuff
I'll have to go have a look.

dog 07-31-2006 08:11 AM

yea in australia its kinda rare to find the album with the name 'raconteurs' on it. i somehow found it, my friend shat his pants when he found out i had the non-saboteurs version. i compared both copied to see that theyre exactly the same, track listings, art, everything, only difference was the name.

and i like the album, real cool. ill check into Brendon Benson sometime soon. i like 'blue veins'. not sure who sings on 'broken boy soldiers', but he sounds a lot like robert plant on that track.

swim 07-31-2006 08:18 AM

I like the album it's pretty good. Didn't Brendon Benson produce a lot of bands in the 90's?

Alo 07-31-2006 09:13 AM

I have had the album for quite some time now. I listened to it over and over, but it took a while for me to appreciate it. But I had expected that, and now I love it, hurray! It's funneh.

dogbreath1 08-22-2006 12:36 PM

I think that Jack White and Brendan Benson are super talented in their own right. And they really shine in this new venture.

Lapalco (2002) by Benson is well worth a spin!

Liam2004967 08-24-2006 04:30 PM

'Steady As She Goes,' is better than 'Hands,' but I think both are good tunes!

Whirlwind Disaster 10-25-2006 10:43 AM

Why Jack? Why?

Rhia 10-25-2006 02:23 PM

Because, he is better than you and can do as he pleases.

But the album is amazing. Not quite sure why everyone says it grows on you, it hit me the first time I heard it, 'tis pretty damn good.

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-25-2006 02:25 PM

I didn`t hate the album but i`m not really a fan of it.

Simple reason really , there`s nothing spectacular about it.For a band containing Brendon Benson & Jack White I was expecting something a lot better than what I heard.

To me it just sounds like it could be any band.

what kind of lame response is that?

Rhia 10-25-2006 02:31 PM

I'm sorry love did you take that seriously? My apologies, I never meant to offend, just show some good ol' Jack White appreciation.

Whirlwind Disaster 10-25-2006 02:33 PM

i love jack white. I think hes a true icon of our generation. i just dont like his raconteur stuff. it lacks identity and real thought in my opinion.

right-track 10-25-2006 02:38 PM

I like the album, but agree it's not as good as it could have been. Great for White to open up with a 'fuller' band behind him, but it suffers for not being entirely his. Two great musicians, caught between two posts perhaps.

fattyboomboom21 11-03-2006 10:50 PM

everyone likes steady as shegoes.....

Raine 11-04-2006 06:50 PM

The racounterus suck. their song steady as she goes is significantly better than just about anything the white stripes made, but it still sucks.

Sneer 11-04-2006 07:40 PM

blasphemy

Raine 11-05-2006 05:34 PM

truth

Sneer 11-05-2006 06:08 PM

fantasy

Raine 11-05-2006 09:34 PM

whatever

sleepy jack 06-22-2007 05:07 PM

I just read in an interview with jack white in guitar world they're going to start working on a new album.

lesssalt 06-22-2007 11:00 PM

My favourite track is the closer Blue Veins! Classic.

Is anyone else digging Icky Thump? Probably their finest effort since White Blood Cells.

joyboyo53 06-23-2007 12:00 AM

i saw them at acl last year. i can dig it.
i get to see white stripes for acl this year... or arcade fire ... same time, what to do!?
