Tough choice, actually. The Arcade Fire are pretty wicked live, but if you like the new Stripes album, then how can you resist.

adidasss 12-30-2007 03:14 AM

Was just reminded of how good they are with this video:

Pitchfork: Surprise! New Raconteurs Album out Next Week!

adidasss 03-18-2008 06:16 AM

What?! *faints*

sleepy jack 03-18-2008 06:18 AM

EVERYONE'S DOING A RADIOHEAD!

It makes me scared, I bet you out of nowhere Patrick Wolf is going to be all "my new album comes out tomorrow."

HOW THE FUCK DO THEY KEEP THIS SHIT SECRET?!

adidasss 03-18-2008 06:20 AM

Lol, great tactics against leakage.

It better be fucking good, I'm tired of getting disappointed this year!

For real, dude. Just what the hell is going on this year so far, eh?

right-track 03-18-2008 12:34 PM

Apparently its supposed to be quite experimental...

Urban Hat€monger ? 03-18-2008 12:36 PM

Got bored of their debut pretty quickly but i'll check this one out.
Anything with Jack White & Brendan Benson involved is worth a listen.

^ Which it isn't!

NEWSFLASH: Wife informs husband she has just bought 2 Raconteurs tickets off the internet for £80 at the L*******l Academy for next months sell out gig.
She confessed to having shelled out the amount (3 times over the face value!!!) after failing to buy the tickets at the time of sale.

Apparently I'm paying..."it'll be an early birthday present" she said.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. :(

adidasss 04-15-2008 02:10 PM

 I'm sure it'll be worth it. ;)

right-track 04-15-2008 02:15 PM

If she'd looked on ebay she'd have got em for 60 odd quid for Christs sake!

adidasss 04-15-2008 02:20 PM

20 pounds isn't a tragedy man...

right-track 04-15-2008 02:23 PM

But it's in L*******l. :(

adidasss 04-15-2008 02:34 PM

It's Jack White...ingrate...

Piss Me Off 04-15-2008 03:40 PM

They're damn good live apparantly, lots of cool covers and they used to end with Teenage Kicks.

Urban Hat€monger ? 04-15-2008 04:30 PM

So did John Peel

Sorry Mr Peel your holiness :o:

Night_Lamp 04-15-2008 10:21 PM

I'm not a fan of the Stripes (I've been bitched at enough- give it a rest) but I really like the Raconteurs. I've never denied that Jack's a talented guy. Great band.

right-track 05-16-2008 01:07 PM

Last night was the night I went to see The Raconteurs with the wife in L*******l.
The Academy there was tiny and my wife insisted we stand near the front. Close enough for flecks of Jack White sweat to flick onto my head.
Great night. :)

adidasss 05-16-2008 02:50 PM

Tell us more, bastard!

See the your day thread.

adidasss 05-16-2008 02:56 PM

Oh...

jackhammer 05-16-2008 06:57 PM

What is the fuss with this band?

adidasss 05-17-2008 02:36 AM

They're awesome.

Loser 05-17-2008 10:26 AM

They aren't bad at all. From what I hear on their albums the songs are really well done. But I haven't seen them live to grasp their raw energy.

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-17-2008 01:10 PM

Saw them on Later... last night.

I wish Jack White would get over this Led Zeppelin phase he's going through :(

You're spot on with that Urban...gotta say I don't mind it though. :o:

adidasss 05-17-2008 04:59 PM

In what sense is he going through a Led Zep phase?

You don't see the comparisons to tunes like Rich Kid Blues?
Classic 70's bluesy rock.
It's no secret they have Led Zep influences...surprised you haven't noticed...

right-track 05-17-2008 05:19 PM

I seem to be referring to the wife a lot these days (don't want people to think I actually like the woman ;) ) but when she first heard 'Consolors of the Lonely' the Led Zep comparison was the first thing out of her mouth.

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-17-2008 05:21 PM

Not just with this album but the last White Stripes album too.

right-track 05-17-2008 05:26 PM

I tried to point out a few comparisons when Icky Thump was released, but Big3 got all stroppy...so I dropped the subject.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea (Big3)...I love Jack White.

jackhammer 05-17-2008 05:48 PM

Just watched Jools Holland from last night. Bon Iver was stunning and the Raconteurs were tight but I am still nonplussed. I certainly don't dislke them but if they all had long hair and added a couple of Hammond solos we would be calling them retro rock and ripping them to buggery.

I never notice such things until other people point it out.

Rainard Jalen 05-18-2008 02:38 AM

I think overall the recent album was a disappointment. I really wanted to like it but it was just simply too uninteresting and unremarkable.

People have been saying that ever since The White Stripes started.

Dantastic 05-20-2008 10:10 AM

hmm I need to listen to them more. I mostly just play the song "Level". Any recommendations for other songs by them?

Piss Me Off 05-20-2008 10:14 AM

Steady As She Goes
Broken Boy Soldier
Intimate Secretary
Five On The Five

The whole 'Broken Boy Soldiers' album is worth a punt though.

Dantastic 05-20-2008 10:22 AM

Ive actually heard "Steady As She Goes" and I like that track. Ill have to check out the rest.
