NEWSFLASH: Wife informs husband she has just bought 2 Raconteurs tickets off the internet for £80 at the L*******l Academy for next months sell out gig.
She confessed to having shelled out the amount (3 times over the face value!!!) after failing to buy the tickets at the time of sale.

Apparently I'm paying..."it'll be an early birthday present" she said.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. :(

I'm not a fan of the Stripes (I've been bitched at enough- give it a rest) but I really like the Raconteurs. I've never denied that Jack's a talented guy. Great band.

Last night was the night I went to see The Raconteurs with the wife in L*******l.
The Academy there was tiny and my wife insisted we stand near the front. Close enough for flecks of Jack White sweat to flick onto my head.

They're awesome.

They aren't bad at all. From what I hear on their albums the songs are really well done. But I haven't seen them live to grasp their raw energy.

Saw them on Later... last night.

It's no secret they have Led Zep influences...surprised you haven't noticed...

I seem to be referring to the wife a lot these days (don't want people to think I actually like the woman ;) ) but when she first heard 'Consolors of the Lonely' the Led Zep comparison was the first thing out of her mouth.

Not just with this album but the last White Stripes album too.

I tried to point out a few comparisons when Icky Thump was released, but Big3 got all stroppy...so I dropped the subject.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea (Big3)...I love Jack White. :love:

Just watched Jools Holland from last night. Bon Iver was stunning and the Raconteurs were tight but I am still nonplussed. I certainly don't dislke them but if they all had long hair and added a couple of Hammond solos we would be calling them retro rock and ripping them to buggery.

I never notice such things until other people point it out.

I think overall the recent album was a disappointment. I really wanted to like it but it was just simply too uninteresting and unremarkable.

People have been saying that ever since The White Stripes started.

hmm I need to listen to them more. I mostly just play the song "Level". Any recommendations for other songs by them?
