Yeah, I agree with all of that. Ripoffs don't actually bother me much, the end result (the music) is what matters and The National make very good music.

Another band that I like that has *that sound* (I won't say JD) is I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness. Both bands do remind me of JD but I don't hold it against them. Interpol also reminds me of JD and I can't stand their music -- not because of their influences but because they don't deliver the goods.

To be honest,I hear a FAR bigger Tindersticks than Joy Division influence on The National.

i ran across an artist today whose voice reminded me of matt berininger's. the songwriting is kind of similar too (although the production/genre is much more experimental/electronic). check it out 'exodus'

The new album will be brilliant, if first impressions are anything to go by.

Love their new album. Best they've ever recorded, and that's saying a lot coming from someone who loves all their albums.

The orchestral qualities that I loved so much on Boxer aren't as common on High Violet, but I really do hope more listens through the album will allow it to grow on me.

Is the streaming album of good quality?

I'm a bit nervous to spoil it if it isn't

I don't get the hype about these guys... are there a few songs I should listen to that are amazing and will give me an idea? Because whatever I listened to by them I just wasn't feeling it.
