Any Echo & the Bunnymen fans here?

Love this band, and have been a fan for some time. I remember seeing them in like '88 in Detroit, they rocked. Anyone else out there a fan of them?

I remember buying 'Crocodiles' on cassette in the late 80's for about 50p. Well worth the time. I pitifully only have the comp 'Songs To Learn And Sing' these days.

Me too, but that's a really good comp!

Hmm, I'll have to check them out.

Is it blasphemous to suggest that Porcupine is actually superior to Heaven Up Here?

One of the Most Underrated Bands

...because they came out around the same time as influential bands like The Psychedelic Furs, Depeche Mode, Joy Division/New Order, The Cure, U2, and The Police. I mean seriously, they have some catchy tunes like The Killing Moon, The Cutter, and of course Lips Like Sugar. Thing is, what hardcore fans really enjoy listening to like Ocean Rain, Bring on the Dancing Horses, and Bedbugs and Ballyhoo

Ah... Echo & The Bunnymen. I had the distinct pleasure of seeing them in 1984, on the Ocean Rain tour, featuring Billy Bragg (a then completely unknown one man show) and The Fleshtones. The show was in a rather gothic looking theater, on our local university campus. What an atmosphere. To me, Ocean Rain will always be my favorite, from the truly beautiful artwork, to the love atmosphere of the album. Plus, I was 17, and at an age where I really bonded with music. I think all their early work, up until the original quartet broke up, is by far the best. I have listened to the recent album, and although it is a nice listen, it borrows too much from the early work.

Anyhow, definitely a band worthy of a thread... even though their egos can definitely paint a less than glamorous image of the band.
