The New Yeah Yeah Yeahs album

Thoughts? Much weaker than Fever To Tell, but better than the singles would lead you to believe. Only a few really good songs though, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs EP is still their high point.

Their first album was f*cking horrible.

Shame coz the EP showed promise.

I won`t bother with this one , this type of stuff got old ages ago.

Horrible? It wasn't groundbreaking, and it certainly isn't one of the best albums to come out in a while, but it wasn't horrible.

This album is much closer to the EP than Fever To Tell was. The album's awful second half really brings it down, though.

To tell you the truth it bored me to death.
Any edge they had to their music was ripped right out of it

I only have two complaints about Fever To Tell, one, how repetitive it seemed to get after a while, and two, unlike Show Your Bones it doesn't get good until it's second half. But I'd never call it boring.

Expletive Deleted 02-28-2006 06:24 PM

Actually, I take back what I just said. It's the middle of Show Your Bones that's not very good. It does seem to pick up again at the end.

I must seem very indecisive about this.

Well thats the thing about new albums , some things you like instantly , other times they need to grow on you.

Yep. I guess I'll wait until I've listened to it a bit more before I make my final judgement, then.

Threads like this are precisly why I love Expletive Deleted.
Instead of just linking you to the bands purevolume, she gives you the CD. <3

Well I think Gold Lion is beyond exception, that song made me a 10 year old and a movie director all in one fell swoop.

The bottom line is, I've not been excited about a song like this in a long long while.

I got the first one and the Ep they released just after, I'm definitely buying the new album too...

Expletive Deleted 03-11-2006 07:04 PM

Forgot about this thread. The album has grown on me quite a bit, and having gone back and listened to Fever To Tell, I'm starting to like this one a lot more.

TrampInaTux 03-15-2006 04:02 PM

I really enjoyed their first release from this new album 'Gold Lion', but NME has hyped them up so much it has actually put me off. NME picks out a band it will bum off for the next month then continue to do so, and it looks like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are slowly knocking the Arctics out of that role.

i've got a favour to ask, can someone upload the album again, the link doesn't work anymore and the torrent tracker is down....

and also, can you guys start using some servise that doesn't shut down the link after a week, fenix mentioned some file transferring services that store the file indefinetly..that would be awsome...

adidasss 04-24-2006 05:30 AM

well, i've listened to it more than 20 times, which means i like it a lot...it's not mind bogglin on the first listen ( except for maybe gold lion ), but it sure as hell grows on you. favourite songs : gold lion, phenomena, deja vu....

i'm buying it...

MURDER JUNKIE 04-24-2006 06:31 AM

adidasss 04-24-2006 07:05 AM

Imonlydancing 05-02-2006 03:36 PM

really want to though !

TrampInaTux 05-03-2006 12:34 AM

I own it now:)

Unfortunately I bought The Kooks album almost straight after, so I haven't had chance to listen to it as much.

Piss Me Off 05-03-2006 10:27 AM

Its definitely a grower and its ONE HELL OF AN ALBUM. I love this, keeps to the quiet/loud formula that i've heard a lot but its so mystical and addictive... As far as bonus tracks go you can't get better than 'Deja Vu', my favourite off the album is 'The Sweets' at the mo.
