A lot of people on here seem to like them so I think I am going to check them out. Which album would you guys recommend? I'd like something that is catchy and doesn't get old after a few listens.

Try Screamadellica. It stands the test of time.

Yeah that too.

What would I know. I like them all, even Give Out But Don't Give Up and that was universally criticised.

You guys know of a good place where I can get it from? The torrent I'm trying is having no success.

I'm pretty mixed over that album , for every great song on it (Rocks , Jailbird , Funky Jam) there's usually a boring Stonesy ballad to bring it down.

Yeah I understand. The Scream where a Stones homage Rock and roll band when they started out anyway, according to the way I read the Kris Needs tome on them they never hid from that. It seemed that they struck a different sound with Andy Weatherall producing Sceamadellica and they never looked back. The live show I caught recently was definitely a rock and roll show though and Beautiful Future is a reversion back to Give Out.... style rock and roll.

On recommendations Vanishing Point and Echo Dek are both worth a look for the newbie.

I always thought the opposite

The first album is C86 jangly indiepop , the 2nd is MC5 / garage rock stuff. I don't think they did anything Stones like till Screamadelica. Movin On Up is basically You Can't Always Get What You Want. Loaded is basically Sympathy For The Devil.

In fact they used the Stones producer Jimmy Miller for some of the stuff on Screamadelica. There's a couple of bootlegs knocking around with alternate versions they recorded with him rather than with Andy Weatherall.

I have not played Sonic Flower Groove or the self titled 2nd album in a while so will give them a further listen before I comment. I think that I tend to head to the usual albums when I play them anyway. Screamadellica had been on rotation in my car and only the other day I though that it had been there too long haa haa!

I've not heard the first 2 albums in years. Although to be honest I always felt their best pre-Screamadelica tracks were released as singles & were never put on those albums.

These days it's mostly Vanishing Point , XTRMNTR & Evil Heat that I play, with Screamadelica getting the odd airing out of nostalgia.
