Love them. "The Wild Ones" and "Still Life" <3

There has to be a thread on these guys already... I cant be arsed to look. Anyway, by far the best band to come out of Britpop in my opinion, and that includes Blur. S/T and Dog Man Star are two of the best British albums of the last 20 years. Although after Butler left they went to shit.

Merged. And Suede's first couple of albums are some of the best Britpop has to offer. Really good stuff.

I was amazed at the first two(proper, minus intro) songs from Dog Man Star. The rest is not that exciting, although you can definitely hear some talent in every song. The Asphalt world starts out well, but was it really necessary to make it a 9 min long jam session?

Didn't get much chance to hear their other albums, might give their S/T a whirl later on.

DMS isn't a very accessible album at first and takes a few listens to appreciate but once it grows on you the variety on the album will absolutely blow your socks off start to finish - bar Still Life maybe. But seriously every song on that album is incredible! And a note on The Asphalt World, this song was one of the reasons Butler left the band, he originally intended for the song to be about half an hour long with an 8 minute solo! That threw up some disagreements in the band cause Brett wanted to go the other direction and become a rock star! Either way I'd love one day for a demo of the 30 minute version to turn up!

Looking through this thread people seem to only rate S/T, DMS and SL. I have to say that Coming Up is really underrated in my opinion, taking into account the band just lost one of the best guitarists over the past 25 years, I think its a credit to Brett that he managed to keep the band together and bring the band successfully into his image. Gotta love She, Picnic by the Motorway, Chemistry Between Us - but the whole albums really strong in my opinion.

Anyone at the Royal Albert Hall show? Or got tickets to the o2 show in december? Major excited for the latter!

Sleeping pills has to be one of the most underrated songs i can think of!

"The Wild Ones" - Best Suede Single Ever. Hate to sound like I'm going over the top, but it sounds like that they were made to create that single. Beautiful many times over.

I also like Sci Fi Lullabies, the fine B-Sides collection, as well, especially the first disc (You guessed it, I'm a Butler-era fan). "My Insatiable One," "To the Birds," "The Living Dead"...I can go on.

Dog Man Star is very over the top, and a great diversion from the Pop world - There were certainly those not buying into the Parklife, and it was an interesting and mysterious way to go into other sounds, although ones that were comparatively over-looked at the time. The highlight of the Anderson/Butler years.

I liked the debut, but to me the singles had more appeal, especially with the high class Bs.

Like Verve, they had so much potential to go into greatness, but decided to go into the Pop Combat Zone but to be fair, any kind of notice will influence that decision, and at first they were good, if not great, at it. Coming Up was fine, almost like the soundtrack to the more fancy side of the party, but Head Music...besides "Electricity" (Still a fine, fine single in my opinion) and Everything Will Save a Prayer...er, I mean "Everything Will Flow" (Brett's highlight vocal on that album), it certainly was the sound of a party that did not know that it was turning into a mess way too late in the evening, although points for trying out the electronics although it had way too much of those Indian String loops and brainless stompers like "Elephant Man" that sound like trying too hard and winding up falling flat.

"Attitude" was a very good way to say goodbye for a while, though I'd like to see what happens next.

To new listeners, The Best Of is a great entrance, although Dog Man Star is a quite an adventure.

The point where I kinda tuned it out and it became background noise is Daddy's Speeding. Seriously, either I'm doing something wrong or that song is just boring in every way imaginable. Aggressively so. It seems out of place on the album to me, and really ruined the flow of the whole thing.
